NCW Fair Virtual Livestock Sale
The Buying Process Instructions:
All buyers, past and new, will need to go to https://yarbro.com to create their online buyer account. Select the “NCW Fair” button. The account you set up will be used to log in and to bid. The sale catalog will be available for all to view prior to creating a buyer account. There is no charge to set up an account.
You will not need a separate account for each entity for whom you may represent. You will need to provide purchase/billing information for purchases made by you on behalf of others when you are contacted by the NCW Fair after the conclusion of the sale.
The virtual livestock sale will be active for e-Bay style bidding from 8 AM on August 26 through 3 PM on August 28. You can log in at any time during that active timeframe to place your bids.
The auction website will send you an email if you get outbid, so you are able to go back in and raise your bid if you so desire. Bids made at the last minute will automatically trigger a 1-minute extension to allow the previous high bidder to increase their bid.
The floor prices for each species (beef, swine, sheep, and goats) will be established by the packers, and announced, prior to commencement of the sale. Due to the current market volatility, that likely will be just prior to the sale. The minimum bid accepted for each sale will be established at the floor price for each species multiplied by the weight of the animal. The floor price is the amount the packer will pay for the animal if the buyer does not retain the animal.
Bidding is by the head rather than by the pound. For example, a bid for a steer would be $2,500 not $1.50/pound. To help you in the per head bidding process we have provided you with some data collected that reflects average costs incurred by 4-H and FFA members to complete their projects.
Waterville 4H Club has generously donated a beef to the NCW Fair to be auctioned to raise funds to pay for some much-needed barn improvements. During a live auction, the animal can potentially be sold more than once providing the initial purchaser “turns” it for additional sale. In a virtual auction, the promotional beef can be sold only once. However, anyone and everyone who would like to support the NCW Fair and the generosity of Waterville 4H Club, can complete an Add-On form for additional support for this project. Donations in any amount may be made. The Add-On form is available on the NCW Fair website at www.ncwfair.org.
There is no “turn” button available on the auction website. However, you will be able to “turn” the animal to the packer just as before. After the conclusion of the auction, all successful bidders will be contacted by the NCW Fair Livestock Clerk regarding disposition of the animals purchased by them.
o If you “turn” the animal, the buyer would pay only the support price (the amount above the minimum bid).
o If you are going to keep the animal, you will pay the full amount of your bid. You will also be asked where you would like the animal to go. If you are sending an animal to a custom shop for butchering, you must contact that business ahead of time so they know how to contact you and so they can bring sufficient trailers to haul out animals. Those shops that have thus far consented to pick up custom butcher animals are J & J Meats, Basin Meats, and Stacy’s Custom Meats.
Hard copy invoices will be mailed to all buyers by the NCW Fair. Please issue your checks payable to NCW Fair Livestock Sale and return them to NCW Fair, P O Box 460, Waterville, WA 98858 as soon as possible after receipt of your invoice. The exhibitors cannot be paid until all funds have been received.
